Jon Wiener announced via his post on www.thenation.com the ALCU released in California a free smart-phone app that allows people to transmit cellphone video of police encounters to the ACLU automatically and will preserve the video footage on ALCU servers. The keywords being “automatically preserves” the video after the user presses the “record” button. Therefore the video will be available for legal action regardless if the police seize the phone, delete the video or destroy the phone.
